In a flash second between two emails that I sent today, I remembered an old childhood ritual of going for an evening walk with my father and younger sister. We'd just walk and cross an old wooden bridge over the river and stroll the distance to come back home over a new concrete bridge just a mile away. Often we'd stop either on the new bridge or the old one, looking at the slow river below and the dark evening sky where stars slowly appear. We hardly talked. But we heard the pace of footsteps, the rhythm of water and Life around us. Till date, the walk over the Chaliyar river sounds and feels magical.
